POSITION SUMMARY
Provides CNA services to patients assigned to individual caseload.

$25.50 - $28 per hour DOE

HOURS
8 per Day / 5 Days per Week
General Duties:
- Conducts self in a professional manner in areas of dress, language, attitude, and behavior.
- Exhibits full knowledge and support of the philosophy and objectives of Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. (TTC).
- Fully understands and maintains policies regarding professional ethics, including patient confidentiality practices, and HIPPA regulations. Safeguards a client’s right to confidentiality within the limits of the law.
- Inform patients about other services offered by TTC that may be appropriate for the patient and orthe patients family members.
- Attends in-services trainings and educational workshops and completes the minimum yearly training requirements. Strives to maintain and improve professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Attends all required staff and team meetings.
- Represents TTC appropriately in the community.
- Evaluates a patient progress (or lack thereof) on a continuous basis in order to guide service delivery. Cooperates and communicates fully with other staff on the treatment team regarding patient behavior and progress activities.
- Works closely with the assigned patient and or with other multi-disciplinary team members (as appropriate) to develop a comprehensive service plan and ensures that all identified problems are addressed.
- Provides patient with a clear description of services, timelines, and possible outcomes at initiation of services.
- Facilitates discharge-planning efforts, commencing at time of admission on all assigned patients, including aftercare, etc.
- Provides regular, comprehensive progress note charting in the patients record which documents contacts, progress towards goals identified in the service plan.
- Attends weekly supervision and other related activities as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director and/or Program Supervisor.
- Additional duties include Front and Back Office Reception.
- Candidate will receive training in medication administration and blood withdrawal by a licensed nurse. Once candidate demonstrates competency, he/she will be cleared to administer medication and perform blood withdrawals.
Drugs that are appropriate for a CNA to administer under the supervision of a Registered Nurse may include:
- Oral, topical, suppository, eye drops, ear drops.
- Single dose immunizations administered intramuscularly in the deltoid muscle.
- Intradermal injections for allergy testing.
Drugs that are not appropriate for administration by a CNA include:
- Any controlled substance
- Experimental drugs
- Medications requiring dosage adjustments or calculation of dosages
- Medications requiring specialized training
- Intravenous (IV) Administration, IV Drips (infusions) or IV Push drugs, unless the CNA is certified in IV therapy.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES (HIV programs):
- Knowledgeable about the HIV disease process and the psychological effects of living with HIV,as well as the co-morbidities of substance abuse and mental illness and their effects on the management of the HIV illness.
- Establishes and keeps current a resource file/directory of information regarding available programs, services, contact persons and avenues of access in the community and current trendsof knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS.
- Develops and submits accurate reports regarding client activities, patients served, caseload andother information as needed.
- Utilizes independence within outside entities or patients’ home when arranging for patient care, taking into consideration safety issues and special circumstances.
- Respects the inherent dignity of each person living with HIV they serve. Services will be patient driven, aiming to increase a patient sense of empowerment and self-advocacy.
- Assist patient with bathing, toileting, and shaving.
- Assist with care of hair, nails, mouth, and skin.
- Assist with dressing.
- Assist with ambulation and transfer activities:
- Do patients personal and essential laundry.
- Make the bed and change the patient’s linen.
- Keep the patient’s room neat and clean, light vacuuming, mopping, dusting, empty trash, etc.
- Prepare and serve the patient’s meal and clean up afterwards, wash dishes.
- Assist patient with eating.
- To complete reports of services for each visit.
- To immediately report any observed unsatisfactory client care issues.
- Other duties as described in the Care Plan.
EXPERIENCE
- California State Certified as a C.N.A.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
