**Job Summary**
The Medical Assistant I will work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Medical Care Provider, responsible for providing basic nursing care to patients. Duties include collecting and preserving specimens for STD testing, performing laboratory and screening tests, interpreting lab results, and providing patient education. Knowledge of EPIC is a plus, and bilingual skills are preferred. A phlebotomy certificate is also desirable.
Pay Rate
$25 - $27 per hour DOE.

**Responsibilities**
1. Interview, screen, and perform health assessments according to protocols.
2. Report and record observations of nursing care and patient progress.
3. Assist in formulating treatment plans.
4. Apply and remove bandages, dressings, and orthopedic appliances.
5. Perform ophthalmic testing that does not require interpretation.
6. Remove sutures or staples from incisions.
7. Perform ear lavage to remove impacted cerumen.
8. Collect and preserve specimens for testing.
9. Assist patients in ambulation and transfers.
10. Prepare patients for exams or procedures.
11. Provide patient information and instructions as authorized.
12. Collect and record patient data.
13. Perform simple laboratory and screening tests.
14. Cut nails of healthy patients.
15. Administer first aid and CPR in emergencies.
16. Perform front office duties such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.
17. Order medical supplies and maintain stock.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- Completion of a State of California-approved medical assistant program.
- Phlebotomy certificate is beneficial.
- Six months to one year of medical assistant experience in a clinical setting or completion of internship.
